    hxcfairy: yomamaween | hxcfairy | (via cartoonshowroom) Might be getting one of these tomorrow :3 I have one!  My first suggestion is to train it to do an activity.  Even before obedience training, it’s like getting a child involved in a sport or something.  The first thing we did was train Dakota how to play frizbee and he became very goal oriented.  He will live for this activity and seeing the happiness in his or her eyes when you bring up their activity will make you happier than anything else.  You can’t say “Frizbee” without Kota freaking out.  Secondly.  They nip.  Be aware of this, and don’t get angry at your puppy, it’s what they’re meant to do.  Thirdly, they’re fucking smart.  This dog may even be smarter than you are.  The knowledge my dog possesses scares me…they will teach themselves to do things and get things they want.  Again…your ‘activity’ be it making him a disc dog, agility or flyball, will help. I’m just telling you because Border Collies are hard dogs to raise because chances are, they’re smarter than you are (not saying it to be mean…I’m a med student…Dakota is…maybe smarter than me.) If you already knew all of this, I am sorry to maybe insult you, but it’s good advice from one collie owner to another! I’ve owned or been around collies my entire life so having one really isn’t going to a new thing to me but thank you for the advice :3 ♥ No worries…no one really all of a sudden decides getting a Collie is a good idea (except me…LOL) so I should have figured that you knew.  Kota shocks us all the time with how smart he is.  He taught himself how to roll down car windows…so it’s like, you’re in the car, window goes down and he’s about to fall out of it.  Bastard »  Best dogs ever though, agreed? LOL
